Portfolio tasks are assigned to students according to the IEB or GDE requirements. In grade 10 and 11 these are very similar. In grade 12 students are given the portfolio requirements for one of the above examinig bodies.

Students enrolled at other provinces will be doing the portfolio requirements of that province - if they differ from the Gauteng Education Department (GDE) tasks.

Portfolios are managed online. This implies that students upload their portfolio tasks and the SSir teachers assess it. Feedback is given online. Marks are also provided online. Portfolios cannot be lost or damaged.

Towards the end of the grade 12 year portfolios are submitted to SSir by the students.

Schools are provided with the marks and comments for the portfolio items.
